Double bindings or a rear toe plate?
The rear toe plate, or RTP, holds only the front of the back foot: it comes out more easily in a fall, and most models fit every shoe size. It is the right choice for beginners and recreational skiing. Double bindings hold both feet: more control, precision and response, which is what slalom skiers look for. The Pivot toe plate has a plate that pivots so you can angle your back foot as you like.
Choosing your size
Connelly sizes are men’s US shoe sizes. As a rough guide: US 7 ≈ EU 40, US 9 ≈ EU 42, US 11 ≈ EU 44 to 45, US 13 ≈ EU 47. A water ski binding should fit snugly: it gives a little when wet. If you are between two sizes, call us on +33 4 57 57 27 27.
Fitting to the ski
Connelly front bindings mount on a binding plate, with industry-standard inserts; the plate screws are sold separately. For a new slalom ski, the ski and bindings package often works out cheaper: see the packages. For combo skis, a binding for junior combo skis is available as a replacement.
Frequently asked questions
What size water ski binding should I choose?
Your men’s US shoe size: US 9 is roughly EU 42, US 11 is EU 44 to 45. The Swerve binding and the Swerve and Lace toe plates are one size, adjustable.
What is the difference between a binding and a rear toe plate (RTP)?
A binding wraps the whole foot; a rear toe plate (RTP) holds only the front of the back foot, which comes out more easily in a fall. The toe plate is recommended for beginners.
Tempest or Shadow?
The Shadow laces in two zones and has a mid-height shell; the Tempest tightens with an ATOP dial and has a foam liner and 3D moulding, for more precise support in slalom.
Can I fit a Connelly binding to another brand’s ski?
Usually yes: Connelly front bindings mount on a binding plate with industry-standard inserts. Check the insert spacing on your ski, or ask us.
