General guidelines. A longer board carries you better, starts more easily and feels reassuring; a shorter board turns faster and is easier to handle for tricks. The Big Easy (146 cm) is made for larger builds and for beginners who want an easy start.
Fins, rails and spine
Fins: long centre fins hold your line and feel reassuring; short moulded fins let the board slide and pivot. Screw-in fins (Reverb, Woodro) can be removed for a looser ride. The raised rail between the bindings (Reverb, Wild Child) makes the board more forgiving on edge. The spine, a ridge under the board (Pure, Blaze, Big Easy, Lotus), softens landings. The Woodro, with its wood core and reinforced base, is designed to slide on the features (rails, kickers) of cable parks.
Boards are supplied without bindings: see wakeboard bindings. 2025 model still available: Steel.
Connelly technologies
How a board is built

- [A] Top sheet : The graphics, and a UV protection layer that makes the board last.
- [B] Fibre layers : Together with the core, this is where the ride is tuned: the weight, orientation, weave and number of fibreglass layers give the board its flex and character.
- [C] Binding reinforcement : A glass layer that strengthens the connection between the board and the bindings: your energy goes into the board without loss.
- [D] Inserts : All Connelly boards have M6 metric inserts: more threads in a small area, a more secure fixing with a shallower insert.
- [E] Core : The backbone of the board, which the fibre works against. Foam densities, inserts and materials decide how it rides for its intended use.
- [F] ABS sidewalls : On the Woodro: a very tough material that protects the edge from knocks on rails and features.
- [G] Base graphics : Beyond UV protection and graphics, the base adds strength, durability and performance.
Rocker
Continuous rocker
An unbroken curve from tip to tail: a smooth, fast, predictable ride, softer landings, more rocker between the feet.
Mellow three-stage rocker
The pop of a three-stage rocker and the predictability of a continuous rocker: more pronounced lift at both ends, a softened centre.
Base shape

Full spine
Pushes water towards the edges to soften landings.

Hybrid spine
A flat-topped spine: the base stays mostly flat for riding features.

Flat base
Completely flat, the best on features and kickers.
Core and base

Natural Flex
Machined paulownia wood core, with no foam: 100% natural.

System 80
A forgiving low-density closed-cell foam, for all abilities.

Ti base
Arguably the strongest and fastest base material there is, formulated for speed.

Frequently asked questions
Which Connelly wakeboard for a beginner?
The Blaze, the Pure or the Big Easy: centre fins, mellow rocker and a spine for soft landings. For a child, the Surge (125 cm).
What is the difference between the Reverb and the Pure?
The Pure is built on the Reverb’s platform but with a mellow three-stage rocker and centre fins: easier, for every level. The Reverb has a continuous rocker and screw-in fins, for intermediate to advanced riders.
Does a boat wakeboard work at a cable park?
Yes for riding, but for the features (rails, kickers) you need a reinforced board without centre fins, such as the Woodro with its wood core.
