How does wakefoiling work?
The foil, a mast fixed under the board and ending in wings, lifts the board above the water as soon as it picks up speed. You start towed on a rope at low speed; advanced riders then let go of the rope to surf the boat’s wave, as in wakesurfing. The Slipstream has a hull that takes off and touches down smoothly, and a narrow outline for tight turns.
It is fitted with the Connelly foil set; call us on +33 4 57 57 27 27 for the board and foil together. For the wave without a foil, see wakesurfing.
In France, the person being towed wears a vest or buoyancy aid of at least 50 N, and the driver has a second person on board to watch them. Riding takes place in the zones and channels set aside for it; on a lake, a prefectural order sets the zones and times. See our lifejackets and buoyancy aids.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Slipstream board come with a foil?
No: it is sold without a foil and is fitted with the Connelly foil set, using its inserts. Contact us for the complete set-up.
Is wakefoiling hard for beginners?
It takes a few sessions to find your balance. The Slipstream is designed to help you progress faster than a standard foil board, without the demands of a very low-volume board.
