For towed sports
The O’Neill Superlite 50N ISO is designed for waterskiing and wakeboarding: ergonomic and low-bulk, it leaves the arms free and protects the torso on landings. Sizes S to XL. In France, the person being towed wears at least a 50 N buoyancy aid.
For children: the Floatee A100
The Floatee A100 automatic inflatable lifejacket (100 N category) is worn like a T-shirt, with no crotch strap: children forget they have it on all day. In contact with water, it inflates on its own and turns the child onto their back, head out of the water. It weighs less than 600 g and comes in three sizes: 9 to 15 kg, 14 to 22 kg, 21 to 30 kg. After it has gone off, it is put back into service with the Floatee rearming kit.
For boating
At sea, Division 240 requires one device per person: 50 N up to 2 nautical miles from shelter, 100 N up to 6 miles, 150 N beyond. The 100N lifejacket covers coastal boating. See also safety on board.
Frequently asked questions
Which lifejacket for a child?
One matched to their weight. The Floatee A100, a 100 N automatic inflatable, comes in 9 to 15 kg, 14 to 22 kg and 21 to 30 kg; it turns the child onto their back in contact with water.
Is a 50 N vest enough for wakeboarding?
Yes: the person being towed must wear at least a 50 N buoyancy aid. It should fit snugly so that it does not ride up in a fall.
How do I rearm a Floatee vest after it has gone off?
With the Floatee rearming kit: unscrew the used gas cylinder and water sensor, screw in the new ones and refit the green indicator. Only the Floatee rearming kit is suitable.
