Description
The Big Daddy is for larger skiers and for beginners on a slalom ski: 550 square inches of surface area, about 35 dm², over 175 cm in length. Wide tip and tail, and a C.T.S. system that keeps the tip straight: deep-water starts take no effort.
Who is it for?
For skiers over 100 kg who want a long slalom ski, and for those starting out on a single ski behind a boat at moderate speed.
What sets it apart
Its C.T.S. (Connelly Tracking System) keeps the tip straight on the start; its narrow base underfoot and soft flex give it a smooth ride up to 45 km/h.
Ski only or as a package?
The ski on its own comes without bindings, fitted with its fin. It is also available in 3 packages with bindings, at a fixed price: choose one at the top of the page. The package usually works out noticeably cheaper than the ski and bindings bought separately.

- A handle and a 75 ft (22.9 m) rope, such as the Connelly Sport 5-Section Water Ski Rope and Handle.
- A bag for transport, such as the Connelly Performance Slalom Ski Bag.
- A vest or buoyancy aid of at least 50 N for the skier, and a second person on board to watch them.
Technology
The Connelly profile
Under the ski
On this modelConnelly Tracking System (C.T.S.)
A slight rib under the tip keeps the ski running straight while the boat pulls you out of the water on a deep-water start.
Compare with the others: V-Tech, Speed V-Tech

V-Tech
Six V-shaped steps break up the flow of water under the ski, from the front binding to the fin. Less water clings to the ski as it accelerates: it turns more easily and drags less.

Speed V-Tech
V-Tech adapted for fast skis: the curved V steps slow the water in the middle of the tunnel more than along the edges. Drag drops without losing edge grip.
Laminates: carbon or fibreglass
Performance skis use carbon for precision and explosive acceleration; recreational skis use fibreglass for a forgiving, less demanding ride. The blend of the two tunes the flex of each ski to its use.
On this modelFibreglass
A technique known since the 1960s; advances in fabrics and how they are layered now give light skis with a consistent flex that damp vibration well.
Compare with the others: Carbon 90/10, Carbon 50/50

Carbon 90/10
Carbon is very light and very responsive. 10% fibreglass damps vibration: chop is smoothed out, and the ski lasts noticeably longer.

Carbon 50/50
As much carbon as fibreglass: a fast, responsive ski with a smooth, consistent flex that does not chatter on less than perfect water.
Binding placement
It is measured from the tail of the ski to the heel of the front binding.
