Description
The Big Easy was launched in 1994 to make slalom skiing accessible to everyone. With 635 square inches of surface area, about 41 dm², it is one of the widest slalom skis on the market: it gets out of the water easily, stays very stable and can be skied all day without tiring.
Who is it for?
For skiers over 100 kg, for those moving to a single ski who want an easy start, and for boats that pull at moderate speed (39 to 45 km/h).
What sets it apart
Its very large surface area carries the skier from low speeds. Its “recreational” flex and C.A.P.T. profile make it forgiving; its through-mounted aluminium fin keeps it on line.
Ski only or as a package?
The ski on its own comes without bindings, fitted with its fin. It is also available in 3 packages with bindings, at a fixed price: choose one at the top of the page. The package usually works out noticeably cheaper than the ski and bindings bought separately.
Other Connelly slalom skis
- Big Daddy: beginner, larger build, 39 to 45 km/h
- Outlaw: beginner to intermediate, 42 to 51 km/h
- Concept: intermediate, 42 to 51 km/h
- HP: intermediate, 2025 model
What else you need
- Bindings, if you buy the ski on its own: see the water ski bindings.
- A handle and a 75 ft (22.9 m) rope, such as the Connelly Sport 5-Section Water Ski Rope and Handle.
- A bag for transport, such as the Connelly Performance Slalom Ski Bag.
- A vest or buoyancy aid of at least 50 N for the skier, and a second person on board to watch them.
Technology
The Connelly profile
Laminates: carbon or fibreglass
Performance skis use carbon for precision and explosive acceleration; recreational skis use fibreglass for a forgiving, less demanding ride. The blend of the two tunes the flex of each ski to its use.
On this modelFibreglass
A technique known since the 1960s; advances in fabrics and how they are layered now give light skis with a consistent flex that damp vibration well.
Compare with the others: Carbon 90/10, Carbon 50/50

Carbon 90/10
Carbon is very light and very responsive. 10% fibreglass damps vibration: chop is smoothed out, and the ski lasts noticeably longer.

Carbon 50/50
As much carbon as fibreglass: a fast, responsive ski with a smooth, consistent flex that does not chatter on less than perfect water.
Binding placement
It is measured from the tail of the ski to the heel of the front binding.
